BECKLEY, W. Va. – Junior Izzy Hunter scored two goals within three minutes to break a 2-2 tie and lift Point Park University women's soccer to a 4-2 win over West Virginia University Institute of Technology in a River States Conference game Thursday.

In a rematch of last season's conference tournament final, the Pioneers (5-7-2, 4-2 RSC) and Golden Bears (7-5-2, 2-1-2 RSC) remained in a scoreless gridlock heading into halftime.

Point Park broke open the scoring in the 50th minute when Gabby Widman put in a header off a corner kick from Chloe Bowser.

A goal off a rebound in the 66th minute by Tatum Fabian put the Pioneers up, 2-0, but WVU Tech answered with back-to-back goals in the 71st and 73rd minutes to tie the game, 2-2.

Point Park turned right around and took the ball back down the field, where Hunter scored in the 74th minute to put the Pioneers up, 3-2.

Hunter sealed the deal three minutes later with another unassisted goal, and the Pioneers defense stepped up to keep the Golden Bears off the board and clinch the 4-2 win.

Point Park goalkeeper Rebecca Cohen made five saves in the win, with one save being attributed to the team.

Each team had an equal opportunity to score with eight shots on goal apiece, and WVU Tech held a 4-2 corner kick advantage.

This was a big win for the Pioneers in a tight race for the top of the conference leaderboard, bumping them up to third behind Asbury (Ky.) and Ohio Christian, with two RSC games remaining at Rio Grande (Ohio) on Sunday and Carlow on Oct. 29.
