BOX SCORE 1 / BOX SCORE 2

KENNEDY TWP., Pa. – Each player on the Point Park University softball team recorded a hit in the doubleheader sweep of Midway University Friday afternoon at Fairhaven Park. The Pioneers won game one, 6-2, and the nightcap, 15-10.

The nightcap started off with hits on both sides of the first inning. Midway (7-25, 0-10 KIAC) scored two runs in the top of the inning, but Point Park (14-16, 8-4 KIAC) retaliated with a series of two-out, RBI doubles by Kim Corcoran, Jess Beitler and Chelsea Rogel. Delaney Baumis drew a walk and Shannon Davis hit an RBI double to put the Pioneers up 5-2 heading into the second.

Point Park jumped to an 8-2 lead in the bottom of the second, but the Eagles quickly closed the gap in the top of the third. An RBI double, single and a three-run home run by Midway's Hailey Roby tied the game, 8-8.

Senior Hannah Harley (6-7) pitched 2.2 innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits before she was relieved by fellow senior Michaela Lewis-Lambert.

The Pioneers got ahead 10-8 in the bottom of the third, but once again, Midway tied the game in the top of the fourth with two RBI singles.

Point Park answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth on an error and a 2RBI single by Taylor Geary to make the score 13-10.

Lewis-Lambert (2-2) got the win for the Pioneers in 2.1 innings of work, allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts before freshman Erica Burns took the mound in the top of the sixth.

Point Park held Midway scoreless after the fourth and added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to make the final score 15-10.

Burns got the save by not allowing a run in the final two innings.

In game one, freshman pitcher Ashley Iagnemma (6-7) recorded a season high 12 strikeouts en route to the 6-2 victory. Iagnemma allowed two runs on four hits.

Brittany Zeigler hit an RBI double in the bottom of the first to put the Pioneers on the board early, and senior Haley Wisniewski hit a ground out RBI in the bottom of the second to make the score 2-0.

The Pioneers pulled away in the bottom of the fifth. Burns hit a two-run single, Geary hit an RBI triple and Zeigler hit a sacrifice fly to deep center to put Point Park ahead 6-0 heading into the sixth.

Midway tried to put together a rally in the top of the sixth, and a two-run single by Dee Lewis cut the lead to 6-2.

Lewis-Lambert came in for one inning of relief for Point Park, garnering a line out and two strikeouts to end the game.
