WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. -- Asbury (Ky.) University put together a fourth-quarter run to secure a 59-46 victory at Point Park University in a River States Conference women's basketball game on Friday night at CCAC-South Gym.

Asbury (10-12, 5-6 RSC) opened the fourth on a 14-6 run the first five minutes to take control, 55-42. The Eagles made just one more basket the final five minutes but had done the damage already.

Point Park trailed throughout but battled back to within 37-36 late in the third quarter. Asbury managed a 41-36 edge with 10 minutes remaining, and it came out in the fourth quarter with a shooting streak that put the game out of reach.

Asbury's Brittany Warren scored 18 points, and she started the 14-6 run with a 3-pointer. Shelby McDonald followed with a basket and a foul for a 3-point play. Warren then tacked on two more treys in a row, and it was 55-42.

Point Park still had some hope when Ja'Nia McPhatter scored to cut the lead to 55-46 with 3:27 left, but the Pioneers were not able to score again. It was a season-low scoring output of 46 points as they shot 28 percent in each half and 28 percent for the game (18 for 64).

McPhatter finished with 12 points and tied for team-high scoring honors with Baylee Buleca, who put in 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks.

Asbury had post players Kali Whiteside with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Savannah Taylor with 13 points. The Eagles got out to a 21-9 lead after the first quarter and were still ahead, 30-23, at the half.

The Eagles were cold shooting in the second half and ended up making 31 percent the final 20 minutes. That was after the flurry in the fourth quarter.

Point Park returns to action with another conference game Saturday. Tipoff is 12 p.m. versus Alice Lloyd (Ky.) at CCAC-South Gym. Follow the Pioneers on social media @PointParkSports.
