@PPUWoSo picks up conference win over Midway (Ky.)

PITTSBURGH – Point Park University women's soccer took advantage of a lop-sided game and came out on top, 1-0, over Midway (Ky.) University Friday at Highmark Stadium.

The Pioneers (5-5, 2-1 RSC) controlled the ball for much of the game, out-shooting the Eagles (4-3, 0-3 RSC), 21-2.

Despite the uneven play, both teams headed into the locker room without a goal.

Junior Lauren Bower broke the stalemate with a goal in the 65th minute off a pass from sophomore Gabby Widman.

The Pioneers had several opportunities to score throughout the game but could not get the shots to fall.

Point Park's defense kept Midway off its side of the field, and Ashtyn Webb had to make only one save in goal.

The Pioneers' next game is at Highmark Stadium Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m. against RSC opponent Brescia (Ky.) University.
