RICHMOND, Ind. -- Point Park University volleyball is in Richmond, Ind., for the River States Conference Volleyball Tournament being hosted by IU East Nov. 10-11. The Pioneers (21-13, 10-6 RSC) begin the eight-team, single-elimination tournament on Friday, Nov. 10 versus Asbury (Ky.) University (18-7, 12-4 RSC) at 5 p.m.

Point Park versus Asbury is the final match of Friday's four quarterfinal matchups. The tournament continues on Saturday with the two semifinal matches and the finals. A victory on Friday would send the Pioneers to the semifinals on Saturday at 9 a.m. versus the winner of IU Kokomo (28-8, 16-0 RSC) versus Ohio Christian (12-20, 5-11 RSC).

The top four teams from the RSC East and West divisions qualified for the tournament. Point Park earned the No. 2 seed out of the RSC East, which was second only to playoff host IU East (18-18, 12-4 RSC). The Red Wolves earned the right to host as RSC East champs, which was predetermined for whoever won the division.

Quarterfinal matches cross over the two divisions for each of the four matchups. Asbury, which beat Point Park, 3-2, in Pittsburgh during the regular season, is the No. 3 seed out of the RSC West. The Eagles battled back from a 2-0 deficit to win, 17-25, 23-25, 25-22, 26-24, 15-8 at Point Park Sept. 30. Pioneers kills leader Ashley Taylor sustained an injury during that match.

The RSC Tournament champion will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round, which begins Nov. 18 at campus sites around the country. IU Kokomo, the top overall seed and the No. 1 seed from the RSC West, is already guaranteed a bid to nationals as the conference's regular-season champion across both divisions. If the Cougars win the tournament as well, the tournament runner-up will qualify for nationals automatically.

With IU Kokomo on Point Park's half of the bracket, the Pioneers will need to win the conference tournament outright to advance to the NAIA tournament. Point Park has been to three straight NAIA Opening Rounds and four in the last six years.
