JACKSON, Ohio -- Point Park University volleyball started out the Emileigh Cooper Memorial Tournament hosted by Rio Grande (Ohio) on Friday night with a 3-2 loss to Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) and then a clean sweep of the host RedStorm, 3-0.

Point Park (2-4) continues play at the event on Saturday with matchups versus Bluefield (Va.) at 12 p.m. and Shawnee State (Ohio) at 2 p.m.

Point Park forced a fifth set versus Mt. Vernon Nazarene (4-3) with a 25-21 win in the fourth. That erased a 2-1 deficit in the match, but the Cougars pulled out a 15-9 win in the final set for the victory. Set scores were 25-16, 17-25, 25-14, 21-25, 15-9.

The Pioneers responded with a convincing win over RSC member Rio Grande in a non-conference match. The Pioneers won the first set, 25-4, on their way to a sweep. The final two sets were 25-22, 25-16.
