Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. -- Point Park University women's soccer sufferred a 2-0 loss at Goshen (Ind.) College on Saturday night to open its weekend road trip to Indiana.
Goshen, came to Point Park early last year to get a 2-0 win, came away with the same result at home this time. The Maple Leafs got a goal early and a goal late, both of which came from Seja Lang.
Lang scored in the ninth and 81st minutes to provide the difference. The first goal came on the third shot of the game for Goshen, which was able to get some offense together early. Point Park goalkeeper Ella Serlin made four saves in a busy first half but took a 1-0 deficit into the break.
Point Park (0-3) had five shots in the game but unfortunately four of them were in the first half. Although the game stayed 1-0 until under 10 minutes left, the Pioneers were unable to tie in their only shot of the second half.
Goshen was more even in its attack throughout the game with six shots in the first half and five the second half. The Maple Leafs took only one corner kick compared to four for Point Park. Like the shots, most of those came in the first half with three.
Point Park continues its weekend in Indiana with a matchup at NAIA No. 24-ranked Grace (Ind.) College on Monday at 2:00 p.m. The Lancers are coming off a 12-0 win over RSC school WVU Tech on Saturday.
The Pioneers are looking to get into the win column after three tough losses to open the season -- 2-1 at Madonna, 1-0 versus Shawnee State and 2-0 at Goshen. Point Park has not allowed more than one player to score in any game thus far.
