Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Point Park University women's basketball kept the pedal down in a 94-55 win at St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) College on Thursday night.
The Pioneers (7-12, 4-7 RSC) led the River States Conference matchup 39-26 at the half. Point Park proceeded to put up another 55 points after halftime to equal the 40-minute total from the Pomeroys (11-8, 3-8 RSC) in the second half alone.
Taylor Rinn and Ari Bleda nearly equaled SMWC on the scoreboard themselves as they combined for 50 points for the Pioneers. Rinn had another dominant game with 27 points and 17 rebounds while Bleda scorched her way to 18 points in the first half and 23 on the night. Bleda also added seven rebounds and four assists.
Rinn had 19 points in the second half as the Pioneers pulled away. Point Park was ahead, 69-44, after a 30-point third quarter. The Pioneers ended the game on a 25-11 run the last 10 minutes to finish things off.
Rinn went over 1,200 career points on the night and continued her march toward 1,000 career rebounds. Rinn enters Saturday's game at IU Kokomo (1:00 p.m. ET) with 1,201 career points and 986 career rebounds. She would become the first Point Park player every with 1,000 rebounds.
Point Park shot 51 percent from the field and made 11 3-pointers. The Pioneers were 41 percent from the arc (11 for 27) and 77 percent from the foul line (17 for 22). Rinn finished 9 for 11 from the field and made 8 of 11 free throws.
Bleda was also hot on the night making 9 of 16 from the floor. She couldn't miss in the first half. She made three treys the first 20 minutes, including one that made the score 22-10 late in the first quarter.
Rinn also got into the 3-point act with a trey and a 39-24 lead late in the first half. Hitting two 3-pointers apiece were Coral Homs, Sierra Seneta and Alexis Giles. Homs totaled 15 points, five rebounds and five assists on the night. Giles pitched in 10 points off the bench, and Seneta scored 8.
Brooklyn Jones had 19 points for the SMWC with Brionna Sims adding 11 off the bench.
The glass was all Point Park with a 45-26 advantage. The Pioneers held SMWC to 33-percent shooting from the field and grabbed 10 steals.
