Point Park to Host Berkeley in Home Opener on Monday

PITTSBURGH – The Point Park women's basketball team will host Berkeley College (N.Y.) in its 2024-25 home opener on Monday evening at CCAC-Allegheny in downtown Pittsburgh. The non-conference matchup is set for a 5 p.m. tip.

Storylines
  • Point Park opened the 2024-25 season with a pair of setbacks against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams at the Millersville Atlantic Region Challenge.
  • On Friday night, Point Park dropped a 69-47 final against host Millersville University. In Friday's season opener, Kelly Luck led Point Park with 11 points, three rebounds and two assists. Alexis Giles also reached double-figures with 10 points to go with three rebounds and two steals.
  • On Saturday, East Stroudsburg pulled away for an 87-48 win over Point Park in game two of the Atlantic Region Challenge. Emma Pavelek led Point Park against the Warriors with 13 points. Ari Bleda also reached double-figures with 11 points and five rebounds. Fatim Sarr Ndow pulled down 10 rebounds against ESU.
  • Point Park has struggled from the field in its first two games of the season, shooting just 27.2 percent from the floor (31-114) and 14.0 percent from three (7-50).
  • Through two games, Pavelek is leading Point Park in scoring, averaging 10.0 points per game. Ari Bleda is adding 8.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while Kelly Luck is averaging 7.0 points and 2.5 rebounds. Alexis Giles is fourth on the team in scoring at 6.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
  • Fatim Sarr Ndow is averaging a team-high 7.5 rebounds for Point Park this season.
  • Defensively, Point Park has recorded 15 steals and forced 32 turnovers in its first two games. Aichata Ballo has a team-high four steals for Point Park.

  • Berkeley College competes in the USCAA and Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
  • The Knights enter Monday's game with a record of 1-1. Berkeley defeated Penn State Hazleton, 84-52, on Friday, Nov. 1, before falling to Cheyney by a final score of 69-53 the next day.
  • Junior Ariella Johnson is averaging a team-high 16.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game to lead Berkeley this season. Khya Hough is second on the team, averaging 12.0 points and 2.0 steals per contest.
