Cheroky Briard were voted second team All-Mountain East Conference on Friday morning when the league office announced its postseason awards for men's soccer.
Benning, a sophomore from Kiel, Germany, tied for the team lead with six goals and finished second on the team with 13 points during the 2024 season. He head a team-high 28 shots, with 16 shots on goal (.571 on goal avg.). Benning opened the season with two goals against Chatham (9/5), before adding to his season stats with goals against Frostburg State (9/14), Salem (9/29), Davis & Elkins (10/2) and Concord (10/16). Benning was named the MEC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16.
Briard, a graduate student from Normandy, France, finished the season with two goals and two assists (6 points). He had 22 shots on the year, with 10 shots on goal. Additionally, he went 1-of-2 on PK attempts during the 2024 season. Briard found the back of the net against Chatham (9/5) and Concord (9/8), while recording assists against Chatham and Salem (9/29).
