Point Park Heads to Salem for Regular Season Opener on Sunday Afternoon

PITTSBURGH- The Point Park men's soccer team is heading on the road to open up the 2025 season. The Pioneers will travel to Bridgeport, West Virginia to take on the Salem Tigers on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at The Bridgesports Complex.

The Pioneers will play 18 games during the season including 14 Mountain East Conference matchups and four non-conference matchups featuring two against Salem and matchups against Thomas More and Felician University.

Storylines
  • Point Park finished the 2024 season with a 6-10-1 overall record while going 3-10-1 in Mountain East Conference play. The Pioneers were 4-4-1 at home and 2-6 on the road. The Pioneers closed out the 2024 season with a 4-3 win on senior night over Salem.
  • Going into the 2025 season the Pioneers have 14 seniors and graduate students and 11 juniors on this year's experienced roster. Point Park returns Cheroky Briard who was voted second team All-Mountain East Conference in 2024. Briard, a graduate student from Normandy, France, finished the season with two goals and two assists (6 points).
  • Cameron Williams remains the head coach for the Pioneers and is entering his fourth season at the helm. While at Point Park, Williams has a record of 22-25-8. During his tenure, Williams has coached 14 all-conference selections at Point Park.
  • Against Salem last season, the Pioneers went 2-0 in the season series picking up a 4-3 win in Salem on Sept. 29 before getting another 4-3 win in Pittsburgh on Nov. 6 at Highmark Stadium.
  • The Pioneers were voted 6th in the 2025 Mountain East Conference Men's Soccer Preseason Poll following a vote by the league's head coaches. In their first season competing in NCAA Division II and the Mountain East Conference, Point Park picked up league wins over Frostburg State, West Liberty and regional power Davis & Elkins.
  • Defensively the Pioneers were ranked first in the Mountain East Conference in goals saved as Point Park recorded 92 saves in goal with a .750 save percentage through 17 games. Offensively, Point Park was ranked fifth during the 2024 season for goals scored as the Pioneers registered 26 goals on the season, averaging 1.529 goals per game.
