BRONX, N.Y. – The Point Park men's and women's track & field teams opened competition at the Dr. Sander Scorcher Invitational at The Armory in Bronx, New York.
The day was headlined by four top 20 performances and two Top 5 individual finishes in program history.
On the men's side,
Aike Van der Lei turned in a time of 1:59.44 in the 800m, a time that ranks fifth in program history. Additionally,
Michael Quigley finished eighth in the triple jump (12.49m),
Akeem Mustapha finished 11
th in the high jump (1.96m), and
Chevaughn Fletcher took 12
th in the weight throw (15.66m).
In women's competition,
Jana Schmid finished 24
th in the 800m with a time of 2:22.18, a time that ranks fifth in program history. In the women's high jump,
Dunya Van den Tooren finished 19
th with a time of 1.55m.
Point Park will continue competition at the Scorcher Invitational on Saturday in the mile, 200m, 4x400 relay, 5000m, long jump, pole vault, shot put and 1500m.
