PITTSBURGH – Frostburg State recovered from an early deficit to defeat Point Park 3-1 on Tuesday evening at the Student Center in downtown Pittsburgh.
Point Park took the first set 26-24, before dropping the next three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-23.
Frostburg State outhit Point Park in the match, .123-to-.040. The Bobcats also held statistical advantages in points (69-51), kills (43-35), aces (11-9) and blocks (15-7).
Nicole Reasbeck recorded a team-high nine kills to go with 13 digs in the match.
Avery Budrys Rini and
Marianna Oyola-Rivera recorded seven kills apiece, while
Patricia Calero-Irizarry chipped in five.
Alex Koontz had a big day from the service line, recording four aces to go with eight digs and three blocks.
Oyola-Rivera also recorded 24 assists and 12 digs from her setter position.
Mia Arndt finished the evening with 11 digs.
Frostburg State had a balanced attack with four players recording nine kills, including Paige Mock, Dani Kunkle, Devin Brunk and Adele Evans. Allison Brown recorded 20 digs for the Bobcats.
Point Park will remain at home to host West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday evening at the Student Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
