Women's Soccer Hosts West Virginia State on Wednesday Evening

PITTSBURGH – Point Park women's soccer is scheduled to host West Virginia State at Highmark Stadium on Wednesday Night. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Wednesday's matchup will be a whiteout game, and the Pioneers will honor Point Park faculty and staff!

Storylines
  • Following a 2-0 loss to Glenville State on Monday afternoon, the Pioneers now sit at 5-3-1 overall and 4-2 in conference play. At home this season Point Park is 2-2-1 picking up wins against Wheeling and Frostburg State.
  • Against Glenville State, Point Park gave one goal each half with Glenville's first goal coming in the 11th minute and their final goal coming in the 83rd minute. Point Park held a 18-13 advantage in shots while Glenville had a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
  • West Virginia State comes into the matchup on a two-game win streak and a 6-3 overall record while boasting a 6-1 league record. West Virginia State picked up a 4-0 win against Wheeling and a 3-2 win against Fairmont State.
  • In the matchup between Point Park and West Virginia State last year, the Yellow Jackets came out with a 6-2 win in Institute, West Virginia. Jurnee Durrett-Finney found the back of the net for the Pioneers in the 24th minute off an assist from Mireya Rojas.
  • The Pioneers are currently third in the MEC with 26 goals through nine games. The Pioneers are averaging 2.889 per game and have scored first five times against opponents. Freshman Rebecca Pihlren remains second in the MEC for goals scored with six.
