GENEVA, Ohio – The Point Park men's track and field team turned in ten Top 10 finishes at Saturday's Spire Indoor Collegiate Games in Geneva, Ohio.
The Pioneers shined in the 60m Hurdles, with
Kamar Sutherland taking first in the event with a time of 8.28 and
Akeem Mustapha finishing sixth with a time of 8.48. The standouts now rank second and third, respectively, in Point Park history in the event.
Mustapha also finished fourth in the 60m dash (6.97) and seventh in the high jump (1.90m). His time is the 60m was good enough for second all-time in PPU history.
Juan Barrera and
Maxwell Goode also had big days in Geneva on Saturday for the Pioneers. Barrera turned in two seventh-place finishes in the 60m (7.05) and 200m (22.38). Meanwhile, Goode finished eighth in the long jump (6.61m) and ninth in the triple jump (13.50m).
Barrera's time in the 200m ranks fourth in school history.
Additionally,
Luke McKenna took eighth in the 5000m (15:26.56), while
Chase Bowen finished 10
th in the mile (4:27.54).
Point Park will now prepare for its first-ever Mountain East Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship, which is set for next Sunday and Monday (Feb. 23-24) in Huntington, West Virginia.
