PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Point Park women's basketball team fell to Frostburg State 85-73 on Saturday afternoon at CCAC-Allegheny.
Despite leading going into the second half, the Pioneers were unable to hold on as a big 29-point quarter by the Bobcats would be the difference maker in the second matchup between the two. Frostburg State shot an impressive 66.7% in the third quarter going 10-for-15. The Bobcats also went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line.
In the matchup, Point Park shot 44.8% from the floor led by Senior
Ari Bleda who puts up 17 points in the effort. Bleda shot 58.3% from the floor knocking down seven field goals. She also pulled down five rebounds, dished out four assists, and got two steals.
The Pioneers had three other players reach double-digits figures with
Aichata Ballo (14),
Janiah Tillman (12) and
Camille Fultz (10) all contributing. Tillman's 12 points was a career high for the Senior guard from Brooklyn, N.Y.
Frostburg State beat out Point Park on the glass, narrowly edging the Pioneers 37-32. For Point Park Ballo led on the glass pulling down six rebounds.
Emilee Weakley continues to dominate for Frostburg as she picked up a massive double-double dropping a game leading 36 points along with 11 rebounds to lead Frostburg to the win. Weakley is ranked 1
st in the Mountain East for individual scoring.
Frostburg had three other players reach double digits with Taylor Smith (18), Julie Spinelli (12), and Alanna Tate (10) providing support to Weakley on the offensive end.
With the loss, Point Park falls to 8-17 overall and 6-13 in Mountain East play. Point Park will enter the final week of the regular season against Wheeling next Wednesday with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 in Wheeling, West Virginia.
