PITTSBURGH – Four Point Park student-athletes earned USTFCCCA All-Atlantic Region accolades on Wednesday afternoon, the association's awards committee announced.
Akeem Mustapha from the men's indoor track & field team was an all-region selection in the long jump (7.39m) after bringing home the Mountain East Conference Championship with a meet record in the event. This past weekend, Mustapha placed fourth in the long jump event at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston. Mustapha was also voted the MEC Field Athlete of the Year in 2025 and currently ranks first in the Atlantic Region in the long jump.
The women's indoor track & field team had three all-region selections, including
Cassondra O'Connor in the 3,000 and 5,000 meter events, as well as
Emma Pavelek and
Dunya Van den Tooren in the high jump.
O'Connor set a school record in the 5000m during this weekend's IC4A/ECAC Championship with a time of 17:11.96. She placed fourth in the event at the championship. In the 3000m, O'Connor finished third in the event at the MEC Championship with a time of 10:08.49. O'Connor ranks third in the region in the 5000m and is fourth in the 3000m.
Pavelek and Van den Tooren finished first and second, respectively, in the high jump during the MEC Indoor Track & Field Championships, turning in identical marks of 1.67m. Van den Tooren moved on to compete at the IC4A/ECAC Championships this past weekend, placing third with a mark of 1.68m. Van den Toorn ranks third in the region in the event, while Pavelek ranks fifth.
