Pioneers Turn In Standout Performances at Two Events Saturday

PITTSBURGH – Two school records highlighted Saturday's performances at the Bison Outdoor Classic and Westminster Invitational, as the Pioneer Track & Field teams competed at both events to begin the weekend.
 
At the Bison Outdoor Classic, Jannik Windelband re-set his own school record in the 3000m steeple with a time of 9:14.90. David Attram also broke a school record at Westminster, turning in a mark of 39.95m in the discus throw.
 
The Pioneers men additionally turned in five Top 5 finishes between the two meets, led by a pair of first-place finish by Akeem Mustapha (7.35m) in the long jump at the Bison Outdoor Classic, and Luke McKenna (33:20.85) in the 10,000m at Westminster. Mustapha accomplished an NCAA Provisional Mark in the long jump.
 
In addition, Maxwell Goode finished second in the long jump (6.93m), Nick Zaller finished second in the javelin (53.04m), and Joshua Gosselin took third in the 10,000m (33:41.52).
 
In women's events, Point Park finished Top 10 in four events, led by a fourth-place finish in the 5000m by Steere Kuijper (18:54.10). Lindsay Simmons finished sixth in the 100m hurdles at 16.56, while Dunya Van den Tooren finished seventh in the high jump "invite" (1.63m) at the Bison Outdoor Classic. Hannah Bond also finished seventh in the 100m hurdles (16.97m).
 
Cassondra O'Connor also turned in an impressive performance in the 5000m "invite," on Saturday, turning in a time of 17:04.96. The mark ranks second in Point Park history.
