PITTSBURGH – Five Point Park University women's cross country and track & field student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday afternoon, the association's awards committee announced via a national release.
The Point Park honorees included
Jana Schmid (Business Management),
Diamond Rush (Education),
Emma Pavelek (Promotions, Advertising, Social Media),
Cassondra O'Connor (Accounting) and
Emma Roemer (Psychology).
Members of the CSC All-District Team must have a 3.50 grade-point average and rank in the regional Top 50 in at least one individual track & field event during the 2024-25 season. Cross country honorees must turn in a Top 50 individual performance at a NCAA regional championship meet. Honorees must be a sophomore both academically and athletically.
Pavelek and O'Connor will appear on the All-American ballot when CSC votes for its 2025 Academic All-America Team over the coming weeks. Pavelek won the MEC indoor championship in the high jump this winter, while O'Connor earned MEC Runner of the Year in cross country back in the fall, while winning the MEC Championship in the 10,000m at this spring's outdoor track & field championship.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Women's Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's track & field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 15, 2025 (women) and July 16, 2025 (men).
