PITTSBURGH- Point Park volleyball will travel to North Canton, Ohio to compete in the Hall of Fame Classic at Walsh University on Friday and Saturday to begin the 2025 season. The Pioneers will play three games at the Cecchini Center.
Point Park will open up the season on Friday against Walsh University with the matchup slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. The Pioneers will return to the court at 2:00 p.m. to face off with Lake Erie before closing out the tournament on Saturday morning against Saginaw Valley State at 9:00 a.m.
Storylines
- Point Park finished the 2024 season with a 7-20 overall record and a 4-10 record in Mountain East Conference play. The Pioneers closed out the 2024 season with a 3-2 win over Fairmont State followed by a 3-0 sweep of Salem.
- The Pioneers bring back nine players from last year's roster with Lily Marchand, Amiera Smith, Savannah Kitchen, Mia Arndt, Te'Jah Montgomery, Patricia Calero-Irizarry, Sara Faith and Marcella Erichsen all returning to Point Park.
- This year the Pioneers brought in eight newcomers with four transfers and four freshmen filling out the rest of the Point Park roster. The Pioneers brought in players from Wheeling University, LaRoche University, University of Montevallo, and WVU Tech.
- Last year the Pioneers were ranked third in the Mountain East Conference in digs, averaging 15.11 per set led by junior Mia Arndt who recorded a team-leading 309 digs on the season.
- In last year's Hall of Fame City Challenge, Point Park faced off with both Lake Erie and Walsh to open up the 2024 season. The Pioneers fell 3-2 in game one to Lake Erie followed up by a 3-0 loss to Walsh.
- In the 2025 Mountain East Conference Preseason Volleyball Poll, the Pioneers were voted fifth in the conference. The preseason poll results were compiled via a vote of the conference's 11 head coaches.
- Head coach Bridget Bielich is entering her eighth season at the helm of the Point Park volleyball program. As head coach, Bielich has a record of 102-87 (.540), including five postseason appearances and two 20-win campaigns.
