BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Point Park has been voted to finish fifth in the Mountain East Conference Women's Lacrosse Poll, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Erik Ingram, the Pioneers will begin their inaugural season in late February as a member of the MEC. PPU added women's lacrosse in in the spring of 2024 and spent last academic year recruiting its initial roster.
The Pioneers will play home lacrosse games at nearby Highmark Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL, as well as the home for Pitt lacrosse and Point Park soccer.
Point Park will open the season with four its first five games at home, beginning on Saturday, Feb. 21 against Ursuline. Faceoff is slated for 3 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
Frostburg State was picked as the preseason favorite with 25 points and five first-place votes. Charleston was voted second with 20 points and the final first-place tally. Wheeling (17) was picked third in preseason voting, followed by Davis & Elkins (13), Point Park (10) and West Virginia Wesleyan (5).
Dominican University of California, which joined as an associate member of the conference last year, will compete in the MEC Championship but is not eligible for the preseason poll.
The MEC women's lacrosse preseason poll was decided by a vote of the league's head coaches. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own team.
