Pioneers to Open Inaugural Season vs. Ursuline

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park women's lacrosse begins its inaugural season on Saturday with a matchup against Ursuline at Highmark Stadium. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Point Park will be coached by Erik Ingram, who was announced as coach in June 2024. In 2023 Ingram was hired as the first women's lacrosse head coach at Geneva where he was tasked with building the program from scratch and while also focusing on recruiting the initial class that will help prepare the program to begin competition in the President's Athletic Conference in the spring of 2025.

A Pittsburgh native, Ingram spent 2025's season recruiting for the freshman class. Point Park features 29 players - all of whom are freshmen save two sophomores, Lexi Spears and Tessa Hueber, and two juniors, Taylor Desko and Presley Masters.

Ingram focused on finding talented and high-potential players with character to build a great culture. "We have a great team. I love the kids, they're great with each other, and it's created a strong, competitive environment

"They push each other, and at the same time, they support each other. I couldn't be happier," Ingram said.

The upperclassmen have been a great influence on the team, Ingram noted. "I'm very impressed with the games that we played in the fall. I'm very impressed with the maturity the freshmen have shown, but it's still good to have those upperclassmen. They provide a calming effect and are there when others look to them," said Ingram.

Point Park was tabbed to finish fifth out of six teams in the MEC preseason poll. "I'm not really that good at losing," Ingram said, "but the overall plan is for your team, every practice and every game, to get better - to keep developing.

"I expect us to be above .500 [win percentage], which would be incredible for a first-year team," Ingram said.

"The University has so much to offer, but we have a lot to offer as well," Ingram said, "we would love to see the campus community be there and support us."

The Pioneers will play all home games at Highmark Stadium.
