PITTSBURGH -- Point Park men's lacrosse earned its first win in program history Friday night with a 11-9 decision over Malone at Highmark Stadium.

Point Park outscored Malone 6-2 in the second half, picking up the win in comeback. The Pioneers moved to 1-1 on the season and are now 1-0 in G-MAC play.

Parker Bowersox's 5 points was a game high on the evening. Bowersox tied with Grant Huber for a team-leading three goals and led PPU with two assists. Bowersox, who led the team in shots and shots on goal entering Friday's contest, once again paced the team, posting seven shots and six shots on goal.Â

In addition to his hat trick, Huber added an assist to end the night with 4 points. Huber is up to seven goals on the young season. All of Huber's goals came in the third quarter, in which the Pioneers posted a 4-1 run, taking a lead they wouldn't surrender.

Sawyer Leko scored twice and added an assist. Leko and Huber tied for second on the team with four shots on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Mario Lorenson posted 16 saves on the evening. Lorenson tallied eight of his saves after Point Park took a 9-8 lead. He allowed one goal over the stretch.

Lorenson, who was previously fifth in the G-MAC with five ground balls per game, recorded 10 ground balls on Friday night.

Malone (0-3, 0-1 GMAC) received three goals from Dominic Robbins. Robbins tied with Quincy Dumarce and Ramsey Burnard for the team lead with 3 points.
