PITTSBURGH -- Point Park men's lacrosse was bested by Holy Family on Saturday, dropping a 13-7 decision at Highmark Stadium. The Pioneers dropped to 1-2 (1-0 GMAC) on the season with the defeat.
Point Park featured six goalscorers on Saturday, with Braydan Stearns' two goals leading the team. Stearns was one of two Pioneers to record 2 points, with Grant Huber being the second. Huber, Sawyer Leko, Nolan Heikamp, Alec Batchelor, and Parker Bowersox all scored for PPU.
Mario Lorenson posted 15 saves for the Pioneers. Lorenson also recorded 10 ground balls, tying a season high and also leading the team.
Despite trailing early, Point Park scored three unanswered goals over five minutes to end the first half. Goals from Stearns, Heikamp and Leko brought the Pioneers within three goals, but the Tigers (1-0) would not give up the lead, scoring three in a row of their own to open the third quarter.
Noah Simpson led Holy Family in both goals and points, posting five and 7 respectively. He also tallied 11 shots - eight of which were on goal - both good for game highs.

Point Park will be away from the friendly confines of Highmark Stadium for its next three games. The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday, March 7, at Davenport. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
