Pioneers Seek 4th Straight Win Against Glenville State

PITTSBURGH - Point Park men's basketball seeks to extend its three-game win streak on Wednesday against MEC-opponent Glenville State at CCAC-Allegheny. Opening tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

PPU is led by reigning MEC Player of the Week, Aidan Anderson. Anderson dropped 33 points and 10 rebounds in the Pioneers' game last Friday against WV Wesleyan. Anderson's 33 points tie his season record for most points scored in a game.

The Pioneers (6-12, 4-9 MEC) enter on the back of a 91-77 victory over Davis & Elkins. Point Park featured five double-digit scorers with Aidan Anderson (19), Grant Welch (18), Jaylen Stewart (17), Greg Williams (17) and Kaden Warner (12) all doing damage. Welch added 11 rebounds for his first double-double with Point Park, and Anderson tallied nine boards and four assists.

Glenville State (12-8, 7-6 MEC) dropped its last contest to No. 14 Fairmont State to end a run of three games unbeaten. The GSU Pioneers defeated Point Park 100-73 on Jan. 3.

Storylines:

  • The all-time series is tied at 2-2 since PPU entered the MEC in 2024. The two teams split last year, with the home team winning each matchup, a trend which Glenville State continued in January, picking up a 100-73 home win.

  • Aidan Anderson leads the Pioneers in scoring at 18.4 points per game, which is good for second in the MEC. He also tops the team in rebounding, averaging 5.6 per game.

  • Jaylen Stewart paces Point Park with 69 assists, a season high. His 3.8 assists per game rank fifth in the MEC. Stewart is also tied for first in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.6.

  • Kaden Warner is averaging 13 points per game entering Friday night's contest. Warner is third on the team in points. Warner is shooting at a 94.7% rate from the free-throw line this year.

  • The Pioneers are second in the MEC in 3-point percentage (39%). PPU is averaging 11.1 3-pointers per game, which is tied for the top spot in the MEC. The Pioneers shot 56.5% from beyond the arch against Davis & Elkins, their second-best performance all season.
  • Point Park ranks second in the MEC in free-throw percentage, shooting 77% from the line. Four Pioneers are shooting over 80 percent from the free throw line this season, including Jayden Davis (1.000), Warner (.947), Anderson (.889) and Welch (.826).
