Point Park to Visit WV Wesleyan on Thursday

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Point Park women's lacrosse will play its first road conference game on Thursday when it travels to West Virginia Wesleyan. Opening draw is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Cebe Ross Field.

 

Point Park (2-5, 0-1 MEC) dropped its first MEC game in program history on Saturday to Wheeling 18-8. The Pioneers featured five goalscorers with Andrea Kinger scoring a hat trick and Kiley Leasure adding a brace. Alexandra Hrkach, Tessa Hueber and Presley Masters all scored for Point Park, with Masters scoring her first collegiate goal. 

 

WV Wesleyan (2-6, 0-1 MEC) enters as a loser of three straight. The Bobcats have a goal differential of -42 over their last three games, including a 21-0 loss to Charleston in their MEC opener.

 

STORYLINES

  • Andrea Kinger was named MEC Offensive Player of the Week on Mar. 2. Kinger leads the MEC with her 3.8 goals per game and her 5.0 points per game. She ranks second in the conference with her 7.4 shots per game.

  • Kiley Leasure is tied for fourth in the MEC in goals per game at 3.0 and in points per game with 4.0. Her 5.8 shots per game place her seventh in the conference.

  • Tessa Hueber ranks sixth across MEC players in assists per game with 1.75. Hueber is one spot above teammate Gracie Favela who boasts 1.6 per contest. Favela and Hueber are fourth and fifth on the team in points, with 19 and 15 respectively.

  • Isabella LaVenice ranks in the top 10 in the conference in goals against average (10th - 11.81), saves per game (sixth - 5.5) and save percentage (10th - .355). 

  • Point Park is fourth in the MEC in goals per game (12.8). Point Park leads the conference in assists per game (8.4) and is second in both points per game (21.2) and shots per game (34.0)

  • Point Park features five of the top 10 players in the MEC in ground balls per game, including holding the top three spots. Taylor Desko leads the conference at 6.2, Andrea Kinger ranks second at 4.8, Ava Miller averages 4.4 and Alayna Zell and Isabella LaVenice are tied for sixth with 4.0 per game.

  • Desko ranks fourth in the MEC in draw controls per game, averaging 4.4 per contest. Ava Miller is ninth in the conference at 3.0 per game.

  • Kiley Leasure is averaging 2.2 caused turnovers per game, good for fourth in the MEC. Gracie Favela sits in 10th place averaging 1.6.
