CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Point Park women's lacrosse fell to Charleston 25-4 on Wednesday at Welch Athletic Complex. The Pioneers dropped to 5-10 (2-6 MEC) on the season with the result.
The Golden Eagles opened the matchup with goals from Avery Butts and Sylvi Jenner in the first two minutes. Andrea Kinger scored for Point Park with Kiley Leasure dishing out the assist, but Charleston responded with two more goals in quick succession. Kinger tallied her second goal on another assist from Leasure, but UC added two more goals to take a 6-2 lead into the second quarter.
After Kinger scored 1:45 into the second quarter, Charleston went on an 8-0 run to take a 14-3 lead into halftime which it would not surrender.
Kinger's hat trick led the Pioneers, and her and Leasure were the only Pioneers to record points on the day. Kinger recorded an assist on Leasure's woman-up goal with 1:36 left in the third quarter. Kinger led PPU in shots (five) and shots on goal (four).
Gracie Favela's two ground balls led the Pioneers. Favela caused three turnovers on Wednesday - a team high. Taylor Desko totaled a team-leading two draw controls.
Alyse Weber, Sylvi Jenner and Darby Stolz all scored four goals for Charleston (11-5, 7-1 MEC), tying for the game high. Stolz's 6 points led the game.

Point Park returns to Pittsburgh on Friday for a matchup with Frostburg State. Opening draw is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
