FLORENCE, Ky. – Point Park University softball RHP Ashley Iagnemma (SO/Bridgeville, Pa) and first baseman Kim Corcoran (JR/Cheswick, Pa) claimed the River States Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week respectively for games played the week of April 3-9.
The Pioneers (17-12, 8-2 RSC) went 6-0 on the week.
Iagnemma RSC earned Pitcher of the Week honors with a no-hitter against Cincinnati Christian in a 6-0 win that included six strikeouts.
She also beat Ohio Christian with five shut-out innings of two-hit ball in a 4-2 victory. Later in the day, Iagnemma struck out the side in the seventh inning to preserve a 1-0 win over OCU and earn the save. The week started with a three-inning save against Chatham.
She is 8-4 with a 1.51 ERA on the year. She has 107 strikeouts in 88.1 innings with opponents hitting .162
Kim Corcoran earned RSC Player of the Week honors after hitting three home runs on the week.
Corcoran hit 11-for-20 with 11 RBIs.
A highlight was going 5-for-8 with two homers and seven RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of Cincinnati Christian. She was also 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in a game against Chatham.
On the year, Corcoran is hitting .388 with 10 doubles, six home runs and 30 RBIs in 29 games.
The Pioneers' non-conference game at Malone University today was canceled. Point Park travels to NCAA DII Slippery Rock University Tuesday, April 18 for a double header beginning at 3 p.m.
