BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Point Park University competitive dance will go for a spot in the NAIA National Championships on Saturday, Feb. 18. That's when the Pioneers will be competing in the NAIA Competitive Dance Regionals in Bowling Green, Ky.
Point Park is one of five teams competing on Saturday from Kentucky. The Pioneers have been slotted with five teams from the Mid-South Conference for their NAIA regional qualifier. The team champion after Saturday's competition will earn automatic qualification to the NAIA Compettive Dance National Championships March 10-11 in Ypsilanti, Mich.
The NAIA Dance Regionals will be held at Bowling Green High School in Bowling Green, Ky. Competing against the Pioneers will be four schools from Kentucky -- Campbellsville (Ky.), Pikeville (Ky.), Thomas More (Ky.) and Cumberlands (Ky.).
Point Park will be competing on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. ET in the preliminary round. The final round is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. with the fifth-place team after prelims going first. The top-seeded team after prelims will compete in the finals at 2:10 p.m.
Point Park has been very successful in the NAIA dance regionals. In the last five years, Point Park has one regional title (2020) and four regional runner-up finishes (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022).
The Pioneers are looking for their fifth trip to the NAIA National Championship finals. The Pioneers have gone in four of the last five years (2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022). If Point Park comes up short of the regional championship this year, they will have to rely on an at-large bid, something that they were able to earn in three of their four national appearances.
Live streaming will be available courtesy of the Mid-South Conference for $14.99. The link to live streaming is above. Scores will be posted to the NAIA dance scoring system page.
