Box Score PITTSBURGH – Point Park volleyball dropped a 3-0 final (25-23, 25-11, 25-18) against Washington and Jefferson on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at the PPU Student Center Gymnasium in downtown Pittsburgh.
Point Park fell to 0-5 on the season with the loss, while Washington & Jefferson improved to 2-6 on the year.
Point Park struggled offensively in the match, recording just 22 kills while committing 23 errors. The Pioneers did hold a 10-6 advantage in total blocks.
Eden McElhaney led the Pioneers with five kills and 11 digs on the evening. Giulia Follador and Mariah Perez recorded four kills apiece. Setter Elise Wallace also had a big day for the Pioneers with 19 assists and nine digs.
Patricia Calero Iriza led Point Park around the net with six total blocks (three solo).
Washington & Jefferson hit .208 with 38 kills and just 17 errors in the victory.
The Presidents got a match-high 13 kills from Rian Benz, while Faith Fetsko chipped in eight. Fetsko also recorded a team-high 15 digs on the evening for W&J. Adrianna Sacramento passed out a match-high 20 assists to pace the W&J offense.
Point Park returns to action on Friday afternoon at the Vulcan Invitational in California (PA). The action will get underway at 3 p.m. as the Pioneers take on Frostburg State.
