Pioneers Head Across Town for Matchup with CMU

PITTSBURGH – Point Park women's volleyball is heading across the city to Carnegie Mellon for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday night at the Highmark Center for Health, Wellness and Athletics. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on CMU's campus.

Storylines
  • The Pioneers recently dropped an MEC matchup to Glenville State on Saturday afternoon to fall to 3-15 overall and 2-5 in league play. Point Park fell to Glenville State 3-1 in the Student Center Gym.
  • Against the Glenville State Pioneers, Point Park dropped sets one and two before getting a 25-15 third set win before Glenville State took the fourth set 25-17. In the matchup Point Park hit .221 with Avery Budrys Rini (12) and Alex Koontz (11) reaching double-digit kills.
  • Carnegie Mellon will enter the match with a 19-6 overall record as the Tartans are currently on a two-game win streak with their most recent win being a 3-2 win over #18 Marietta on Saturday.
  • Last year Point Park and Carnegie Mellon matched up on Oct. 31 with the Tartans getting the 3-0 sweep over the Pioneers. In the contest, Point Park hit .110 while Carnegie Mellon hit .254 with 44 kills.
  • Marianna Oyola-Rivera continues to be in the top 10 for assists and service aces. Oyola-Rivera is currently ranked second in the MEC for assists with 487 on the season and 8.25 per set. In service aces, the setter is ranked third with 26, averaging 0.44 per set.
