AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Point Park dropped a pair of nine inning games against Ashland (9-3) and Gannon (14-4) on Saturday afternoon at Northeast Regional Park in Auburndale, Florida.
In game one against Ashland, the Eagles plated nine runs on 16 hits to earn the 9-3 win.
Offensively for Point Park,
Trevor Jones drove home a pair of RBIs in the top of the second to give the Pioneers and early lead. The Pioneers added one more run in the sixth on a solo home run by
Jared Campbell. Additionally at the plate,
Crixtian Taveras went 2-of-3 with a run scored, while
Luis Gonzalez was 2-for-4.
In game two against Gannon, the Knights jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three innings, a lead that was manufactured by a grand slam from Ian Soto and a three-run home run from Hunter Troiano.
Despite the early deficit, Point Park scored three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. Jones hit an RBI single early in the fourth, before Jordan Campbell brought home two more runs on a home run.
In the fifth, (Jared) Campbell hit is second home run of the day to wrap up Point Park's scoring.
Point Park continues play from Northwest Regional Park on Sunday afternoon against Wayne State (Neb.). First pitch is set for 12:15 p.m.
