MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Point Park and Fairmont State split a pair of Mountain East Conference games on Monday morning and afternoon at Dale Miller Field at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
As a result, the teams split their four-game series after also splitting a pair on Saturday afternoon in Morgantown. Point Park wraps up the weekend with a 22-10 overall record and an 11-5 mark in league play.
Game 1: Fairmont State 4, Point Park 3
Ryan Goff broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the second with a three-run home run for the Falcons, clearing the left field fence for the 3-0 advantage. Zach Brennan doubled to leadoff the inning while Quintin Reep walked to get on base prior to the home run.
The Pioneers got one back in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by
Luis Gonzalez to bring home

Fairmont State maintained its 3-1 lead until Gonzalez smashed a two-run home run to left field to knot the score at three runs apiece (3-3). To leadoff the inning,
Trevor Jones singles up the middle to get aboard for the game-tying home run.
In the bottom of the seventh, Micah Canterbury singled to left center and Gunner Riley walked to put two runners on for the Falcons. With two outs in a tie game, Tyler Haskins walked it off for the Falcons with a single to center field. Kellen Kinsler, who pinch ran for Canterbury, touched home for the game-ender.
Ramon Rodriguez threw game one for the Pioneers and allowed three runs on four hits while striking out six in five innings of work.
Ethan Parker (3-3) was the pitcher of decision after allowing just one run on three hits while striking out two. He pitched the sixth and the seventh for the Pioneers.
Game 2: Point Park 3, Fairmont State 2
In the early afternoon contest, Fairmont State took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. With two runners on, Reep singled through the right side to score Connor Bailey and Tyler Haskins.
With no runners aboard in the top of the second, Issac Santana hit a solo home run to left center to cut Fairmont's lead to 2-1.
The offense was limited the next three innings as the margin remained 2-1 in the top of the sixth.
In the top of the sixth for the Pioneers,
Chris Williams was hit by a pitch to leadoff the frame. Two batters later, Gonzalez was also hit by a pitch, and both runners then stole second and third to get into scoring position for the Pioneers.
Crixtian Taveras took advantage with a single to right center to bring home Williams and Gonzalez for the go-ahead runs and 3-2 lead - a margin that held as the games final score.
Samuel Georgiana and
Harold Boyce pitched the final three innings for Point Park to earn the decision in game four. Georgiana improved to 2-1 on the season, while Boyce earned his third save.
Brandon Clifford made the start for Point Park and allowed two runs on six hits in three and a third innings. After turning to the bullpen, Point Park allowed just one hit while holding Fairmont State scoreless the remainder of the game.
With the game two loss, Fairmont State is now 17-13 overall and 11-5 in league play.

Point Park will now return home to host West Liberty in a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday at Point Park Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. each day.
