Point Park Wins Game 2 With Walk-off RBI Single

NUTTER FORT, W.Va. – Point Park capped the 2025 regular season with a 37-13 overall record after splitting with Salem University on Saturday afternoon at Frank Loria Field in Nutter Fort, West Virginia. After falling 4-0 to the Tigers in game one, the Pioneers got a walk-off single from Blake Ewing in the ninth inning of game two to earn the Saturday split.

With game two tied 9-9 in the middle of the fifth inning, Point Park took the lead in the bottom of the frame with a two-run home run by Isaac Santana. Omar Morillo was aboard during Santana's home run.

Salem plated a run in the sixth and seventh innings though, tying the game at 11-11 and forcing extra innings.

Each frame remained scoreless until the bottom of the ninth, when Morillo, Jordan Campbell and Chris Williams loaded the bases for Point Park. Then, during the next at-bat, Ewing found the outfield on the single to right to bring home Williams for the walk-off run in the game.

After opening the day with just four hits in game one, the Pioneers recorded 13 hits, including two home runs and five doubles during the late afternoon contest.

In addition to Santana in the fifth, Morillo was the first Pioneers to homer in the third inning – a three-run bomb to right field that scored Jordan Campbell and Trevor Jones from first and second.

In addition to leaving the park twice, Point Park's Morillo, Santana, Williams, Joseph Pilewski and Matt Brandt each doubled in game two.

Santana led the Pioneers going 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Morillo batted 2-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the game.

Ethan Van Scoy pitched the final four innings of game two and earned his first win of the season, allowing just one run on two hits during the final four innings of play. Six total pitchers saw action for Point Park in game two.

In game one, Salem's Conor Thiele threw a four-hit shutout to lead the Tigers to the victory. At the plate, Salem scored two runs in the top of the fourth and went on to win 4-0 to open the afternoon.

All four Point Park hits in game one were singles, with two coming off the bat of Jordan Campbell.

Point Park, the 2025 MEC North Division Champions, will be the top seed in next week's MEC Baseball Tournament. The final tournament seedings and matchups will be announced on Sunday evening by the league office.
