PITTSBURGH – The Point Park volleyball team is back on the road again, this time heading to the UC/WVSU Volleyball Crossover in Institute, West Virginia on Friday and Saturday.
The Pioneers will kick off day one of the crossover with two games slated for the afternoon. Point Park will open up Friday against Shepherd at 1:00 p.m. followed by a matchup against Roberts Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m.
Point Park will return back to the court on Saturday morning, facing off with Kentucky Wesleyan at 10:00 a.m. before a 4:00 p.m. matchup against East Stroudsburg to close out the UC/WVSU Volleyball Crossover.
Storylines
- Point Park's most recent matchup came against non-conference opponent Pitt-Johnstown where the Pioneers fell 3-0 to the Mountain Cats on the road.
- Against Pitt-Johnstown the Pioneers registered a season-high 43 digs led by Alex Koontz and Mia Arndt who both recorded eight digs to lead Point Park.
- The Pioneers have begun the season at 0-4 after the loss to Pitt-Johnstown and three loses at the Hall of Fame Classic last weekend.
- On the season Point Park is hitting .077, recording 8.8 kills per set while opponents are hitting .297 with 13.6 kills per set. Freshman Avery Budrys Rini is leading Point Park in kills with 34 on the season while chipping in 26 digs on the season.
- From the setter position, transfer Marianna Oyola-Rivera continues to put the work in for the Pioneers recording 70 assists along with 23 digs and two services aces. The transfer from WVU Tech has started and played in all 12 sets for Point Park.
