PITTSBURGH -- Point Park men's soccer will hit the road for the first time in the 2026 season on Wednesday when it visits West Liberty. Opening kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. from West Family Athletic Complex.

LAST TIME OUT

Point Park (2-1-1, 1-0-0 MEC) earned its second-consecutive win in its MEC opener against Wheeling on Sunday 2-1. After surrendering the opening goal in the 31st minute, Point Park rallied in the second half with two tallies to pick up the win.

Rocco Domenighini headed a cross in from Joel Gomez into the far bottom corner in the 51st minute to draw Point Park level, and, with 13 seconds remaining, Joel Gomez cut inside off the edge of the 18-yard box and rifled a curling shot into the far corner to give Point Park the victory.

Point Park recorded 21 total shots on the afternoon, 10 better than Wheeling, and the Pioneers bested the Cardinals 10-3 in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Anthony Fusay made three saves in the victory.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS    

West Liberty (2-0, 0-0 MEC) will open its home portion of the schedule on Wednesday, after taking down both Daemen (2-0 victory) and Chestnut Hill (3-2 victory) in road matches. The Hilltoppers were ranked eighth in the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region Poll on Sept. 1.

West Liberty features four goalscorers across the young campaign, highlighted by sophomore Leyton Collier who leads the team with his two goals, 12 shots and six shots on goal. Wilson Hanna, Jasper Newton and Brian Russell have all tallied, and Tresz McLeod and Kevin Teather have both added assists.

Collier and Newton are the top two in the MEC in shots, with Newton tallying 11 thus far. Collier also leads the league in shots on goal and is tied for second in goals.

Junior goalkeeper Shai'ya Fitzgerald has played every minute for WLU, posting a 1.0 goals-against average and a save percentage of .846, both of which rank second across MEC goalkeepers.

FORT FUSAY

In his first season as a Pioneer, Goalkeeper Anthony Fusay is quickly rising to the top of MEC stat boards. Fusay, a junior from Lille, France, by way of Lincoln Memorial University, is tied for the MEC lead with two shutouts and is second in the conference with his 13 saves.

Fusay's goals-against average of 1.00 is tied for second in the MEC.

PRESEASON PRAISE

Point Park was picked to finish second in the Mountain East Conference North Division in the MEC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll. The Pioneers received four of the 10 first-place votes.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK

All 11 of Point Park's starters in their season opener against Seton Hill made their Pioneer first-team debut. Of the 21 total Pioneers who saw action, all but five were in their first game with Point Park. Only Guilherme Galvao, Lorenzo Grispello, Rocco Domenighini. Nikolai Tjoestheim and Edouard Gagnon had seen action for Point Park in 2025.

Additionally, Sindri Hjaltested made his PPU debut in the team's second match against D'Youville, recording a shot, and Bruno de Oliveira recorded a team save in his Pioneer debut last Wednesday against Thomas More.
