Point Park Hosts Fairmont State for Breast Cancer Awareness Game

PITTSBURGH- Point Park women's soccer is scheduled to host Fairmont State at Highmark Stadium on Wednesday night for the Pioneer's Breast Cancer Awareness Game. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 in Pittsburgh.

Storylines
  • Point Park currently is in third place in the North Division standings behind Frostburg State and Fairmont State.  The Pioneers have a 6-5-2 overall record and a 5-4-1 record in league play.
  • The Pioneers dropped their most recent matchup 5-2 against Charleston on Sunday. Maria Gomez (3) and Rebecca Pihlgren (9) had the goals for the Pioneers. Point Park held a slim 16-15 advantage in shots while each team had two corner kicks.
  • Point Park's Pihlgren earned MEC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week the league announced on Monday. Pihlgren tallied a goal and an assist in each of the Pioneer's games last week and has now scored in three straight contests.
  • Fairmont State currently leads the North Division standings with a 9-1-2 overall record and a 7-1-2 record in the MEC while having 23 points on the season. The Falcons have scored 40 goals on the season led by Montserrat Diaz who has recorded eight goals for Fairmont State.
  • The Pioneers faced Fairmont State back on Sept. 24 which saw Point Park fall 2-1 to the Falcons in Fairmont. Sterre Kuijper had the lone goal for the Pioneers in the 89th minute to escape a shutout.
