Pioneers to Host Northwood in G-MAC Play Friday Night

PITTSBURGH -- Point Park men's lacrosse returns to Highmark Stadium for the first time in a month on Friday when it hosts Northwood in G-MAC action. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

 

Point Park (1-5, 1-2 G-MAC) enters having dropped its last four games, including two conference games. The Pioneers fell 13-5 to Davenport and 19-13 to Walsh. Point Park's lone win of the season came at home in G-MAC play against Malone.

 

The Pioneers dropped their most recent game 13-8 against Post in Philadelphia. Point Park featured five goalscorers. Parker Bowersox scored a hat trick for the Pioneers, and his 3 points led the team. Jordan Gales scored a brace and led PPU in shots and shots on goal with seven and four respectively. Zak Marshall, Braydan Stearns and Sawyer Leko all tallied last Wednesday.

 

Northwood (5-2, 3-0 G-MAC) has not lost a game since Feb. 7. The Timberwolves have taken down Thomas Moore, Walsh and Malone in conference play, boasting a goal differential of +31. 

 

STORYLINES

  • Parker Bowesox leads the Pioneers with 10 goals and 13 points on the season. Grant Huber is second on the team with nine goals and is tied for second in points.

  • Tigran Ceesay, Sawyer Leko and Braydan Stearns all have seven goals on the season, tying for third place. Ceesay and Leko are tied with a team-leading four assists each and are tied with Huber at 11 points - good for second on the team.

  • Goalkeeper Mario Lorenson ranks fifth in the G-MAC in saves per game at 11.6 per contest. Lorenson is sixth in the conference in ground balls per game at 4.6.

  • Logan Foy is averaging 4.2 ground balls per game, good for ninth best in the GMAC.

  • Xavier Layzell is ninth in the conference in caused turnovers per game at 1.67.

  • Point Park is second in the G-MAC in ground balls per game at 34.8. The Pioneers are seventh in the conference in caused turnovers per game, averaging 8.2
