Point Park Volleyball Hosts Concord and Glenville State on Friday and Saturday

PITTSBURGH – The Point Park volleyball team is gearing up for back-to-back contests on Friday and Saturday as the Pioneers welcome Concord on Friday night followed up by Glenville State on Saturday afternoon in the Student Center Gym. First serve on Friday is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Storylines
  • Point Park is coming into the matches with a 3-13 overall record and a 2-3 conference record after dropping their last four matchups. Concord will head to Pittsburgh with a 15-2 overall record and a 5-1 record in the MEC while Glenville sits at 8-12 overall and 1-5 in league play.
  • In conference standings, Point Park is currently ranked fourth in the North Division ahead of Frostburg State. In the south division, Concord currently ranks first while Glenville sits in fifth place ahead of Davis & Elkins.
  • The Pioneers most recent matchup saw them drop a close 3-2 match to Salem on the road on Tuesday night. In the matchup the Pioneers hit .250 recording 72 kills on the night compared to Salems 51. Point Park also held a 9-3 advantage in blocks, 64-48 advantage in assists, and 90-73 advantage in digs over the Tigers.
  • Marianna Oyola-Rivera dished out a season-high 58 assists in the match which is the most in a single game for any individual in the MEC so far this season. Oyola-Rivera is ranked second in the MEC for assists (419), eclipsing the 400 mark on Tuesday.
  • Last season, Point Park dropped their match to Concord 3-0 before turning around and getting a 3-0 win over Glenville State the next day.
